Job.com, a leading online career site and job board, announced today the results of their third visitor survey, "Why are you looking for a new job?"
43.7% of participants indicated that they were looking for a new job for "more money," while 33.3% indicated that they were "recently laid off." However, 4.9% of percipients responded that they wanted "a better commute," 3.9% wanted "fewer hours," and 14.4% believes their "boss is a jerk."
From the data, it appears there are a myriad of reasons why Job.com visitors are looking for a new job. However, the majority of Job.com visitors are actually looking to find a better job. Simply put, a "better" job can be described as a position that offers more salary and benefits, including less commute time. Contrary to popular belief, most current job seekers are employed, but are unhappy at their current job.
